What a shocking revelation! BigPay, the Asian Airlines new app gives already established players in the region a run for their money, as per CEO Tony Fernandes.
The new app, ran independently from parent company will be released later this year. BigPay is meant for your typical “everyday digital alternative to bank accounts,”; it is available only in Malaysia for now.
Using Android and IOS and any Mastercard you can withdraw cash from ATMs globally. The processing fees are lower than most bank cards. Simplistic digital alternative to a bank account!
BigPay, also gives the airline customers free complimentary wifi and allows them to send money for free per company officials.
Top up your account by simply adding funds on your phone using your credit or debit card. There is also a bank transfer option available.
The airline has other projects including the development of its new e-logistics platform called RedCargo.
The Asian Airline is on a “digital adventure” and will alleviate some of the pressure from the airlines bottom line; including but not limited to higher oil prices, volatility in the currency market and a shifting sentiment among travelers on the back of projected economic slowdown in major economies such as China. The CEO says that during economic slowdown people gravitate towards low-cost carriers and take shorter breaks.
When Tony Fernandes was asked about the crash of Lion Air, he said that it is “a little unfair” to blame budget airlines.
BigPlay seems to be a tech startup to watch out for in the future especially with the backing of Tony Fernandes and the airline.
